Strong representations from local businesses and local Councillor Charlotte Barnes have deferred the closure of a key road into the town until the end of the holiday season.

Charlotte explained “Originally Severn Western wanted to close the B4385 from Montgomery just north of town for 6 weeks during July and August to improve the power grid. This would have had a major impact of holiday traffic into the town and especially on the business situated on that road including Foxholes Caravan Park and the Magnolia B+B. Fortunately pressure from traders backed by myself has persuaded Western Power to put back the works till 1st September. This will be much better both for local businesses and residents at a key time of the year for our local economy.”
